(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected the film “Dao, Pho and Piano” (Peach Blossom, Pho and Piano) as its official nomination to compete in the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.

"Dao, Pho and Piano”, a box-office hit for Lunar New Year 2024, was inspired by the 60-day Battle of Hanoi fought by the Vietnamese army and people in late 1946 and early 1947.

The film tells the story of a romantic love between militiaman Van Dan (played by Doan Quoc Dam) and young Hanoian Thuc Huong (played by Cao Thuy Linh). They braved dangers to reunite on February 17, 1947, when the Vietnamese people's army began a withdrawal from Hanoi to a military zone where it could conduct a protracted resistance war.

Directed by Phi Tien Son, the film was produced by the Film No. 1 Joint Stock Company at a cost of 815,000 USD.

The film won the Silver Lotus Award at the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival in November last year.
