Sanchez said in a tweet that the government firmly condemns the violence that seeks to reject co-existence in Catalonia. Sanchez met conservative opposition leader Pablo Casado of the Popular Party on Wednesday morning. He was scheduled to receive the leaders of center-right Ciudadanos and far-left Podemos later in the day. Sanchez said he would convey the government’s determination to guarantee security, with firmness, proportionality, and unity.

Recent rallies in Barcelona and other Catalan cities have led to dozens of injures and scores of arrests.
