The 389 members of 96 families will meet with 141 North Koreans on Mount Kumgang on North Korea’s east coast. This, the first inter-Korean family reunion event since February, 2014, is the fruit of an August 25 deal between the two Koreas to end a military standoff. Another round of reunions involving 250 South Korean members of 90 families will be held from Saturday to next Monday at the resort. Since the first inter-Korean summit in 2000, the two Koreas have held 19 face-to-face family reunion events and seven live video reunions.
