(VOVworld) – The 1^st ship of the fleet transporting more than 400 tonnes of Tet gifts for soldiers and people on Truong Sa island arrived at Truong Sa island district, offshore Khanh Hoa province, on Thursday.

The Tet gifts, consisting of fresh food, foodstuff, and other necessities, were contributed by ministries, agencies, localities and organisations across the country, with the hope of bringing a warm Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday to officers, soldiers and residents living on the islands.
Chairman of Truong Sa town People’s Committee, Do The Tuyen, says: “We the soldiers and people on Truong Sa island are very happy to welcome the naval delegation and their Tet gifts. The care of the whole nation has motivated us to fulfill our duty of firmly protecting national sovereignty. Through VOV, we’d like to express our sincere thanks to the people and soldiers nationwide for their sentiment and support for us.”
In 2015, Truong Sa town supported 600 fishing boats, rescued 500 fishermen, and received 30 tourist groups including overseas Vietnamese.
