Senate Majority leader Harry Reid said on Sunday that there was little progress in the meeting between himself and Minority leader Mitch McConnell, and the two sides had still failed to reach an agreement. Democrat Senator Charles Schumer said that the US was still in fiscal deadlock but glimmers of hope had emerged. Schumer said agreement on reopening the government and debt ceiling rate was likely to be reached as negotiations continued between the two sides. As schedule, senate leaders had separate meetings on Monday.
