Vietnam is expected to bag more gold medals in swimming, athletic, shooting, karate, and taekwondo. Truong Thi Phuong brought the first gold medal back to Vietnam on Saturday in the women’s canoe single 200m. Dinh Thi Hao and Ta Thanh Huyen won silver medals in rowing. Hoang Xuan Vinh won a silver medal in the shooting event.

Swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien on Friday pocketed two more gold medals at the SEA Games 30. She will compete in two categories on Saturday: the women’s 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Vietnam is expected to win its first gold medal in karate and taekwondo when athletes are entering their finals. This year, Vietnam’s athletic team targets to obtain 13 to 15 gold medals.
