Last month, the two foreign ministers talked by phone about defusing the situation in Belarus through a national dialogue.

Russia called on both sides to seek a peaceful solution to the current political conflict. The Russian Foreign Ministry said any external interference in Belarus’s internal politics would only destabilize the situation.
