On the same day, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said Russia and Japan agreed to exert greater efforts to sign a peace treaty and both sides are working in this direction. The two leaders on November 14 met in Singapore and agreed to hold negotiation on the peace treaty based on a 1956 joint declaration.
