The two leaders will discuss improving economic ties and sustaining military support for Ukraine, said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre last Saturday.
Sunak said the US is Britain’s closest ally and the two countries are one another’s partner of first resort when it comes to everything from keeping their people safe to growing their economies.
Sunak expressed his hope to forge better relations with the US after Brexit, adding that one of the UK’s strategic priorities is to conclude a free trade agreement with the US.
This is Sunak’s first trip to the US since taking office last October. However, the two leaders have already met four times, most recently at the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, last month.
