(VOVworld) - A solemn requiem was held in the mountainous northern province of Son La on Thursday and Friday to commemorate the heroic soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.
The event is part of activities nationwide to mark the 67th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). From 1930 to 1945, more than 1,000 revolutionary soldiers were detained in Son La prison. It is now the resting place of 30 martyrs who were held there and lost their lives After the requiem, a ceremony was held to release doves to pray for world peace.
