Relic sites, spring festivals attract crowds of visitors

(VOVWORLD) - More than 47,400 people, including 17,000 foreigners, paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi during the Lunar New Year holidays over the past 12 days. 

One million people visited the Spring Flower Festival in Ho Chi Minh city during the Lunar New Year holidays. The 12-day event which closed Sunday night showcased more than 3,000 flower and herbs species. Huynh Kim Phuong is a visitor: “This year’s Spring Flow Festival is beautiful and more diverse. There are a plenty of flowers which are well-arranged. The environment is clean and safe.”

On Sunday, Hoi An ancient town hosted a ceremony to mark the death of anniversary of Kim Bong carpentry village founder. Kim Bong carpentry was founded in the 15th century by carpenters from the northern region and flourished in the 18th century. Carpenter Huynh Ry said: “The festival involves industry, agriculture, and fishery, not just carpentry. In the past Kim Bong carpentry ranked first among these occupations and 85% of village population was engaged in carpentry. But now people shift to other jobs like bricklaying and fishing”

The Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) in the central city of Da Nang welcomed more than 60,000 tourists during the Lunar New Year holidays. Vo Thi Phuong, a pilgrim from Nam Dinh northern province, said her family visits ancient temples in Ngu Hanh Son every year to pray for luck. The site aims to receive 2 million tourists this year.
