(VOVworld) - A 41-gun salute was staged in Green Park, London, on Monday to mark the 65-year reign of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen is Britain's longest reigning monarch, surpassing the record of 63 years set by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria.

25-year-old Elizabeth became Queen on February 6, 1952, following the death of her father, King George VI. She turned 90 last April and has been the world's oldest monarch since the death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah in 2015.
