Live Sport Asia said the victory was well-deserved. Thai SiamSports said Vietnamese football has become king after 60 years of waiting. Indonesian Bola Sport said the result was decisive, as Indonesia could not penetrate Vietnam’s defense while Vietnam fully exploited its strengths.

Vietnamese people flooded the streets to cheer Vietnam’s football triumph and the success of all the Vietnamese athletes at SEA Games 30.

“This is the first time Vietnam has won a gold medal in SEA Games football. I am very happy and excited. Everyone is proud. The players played a wonderful match,” a Vietnamese fan said. 

“I always watch the team at SEA Games 30. When they score a goal, like millions of other Vietnamese fans, I am extremely happy. Today all the players played really well, particularly goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan.”

Fans sent their thanks to coach Park Hang-seo and expressed their hope that the Vietnam Football Team will continue to create a miracle in other international tournaments.
