Yesterday/on Thursday Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan visited and presented gifts to relatives of martyrs in Ho Chi Minh City to express gratitude for their sacrifices, losses, and contributions to the nation. Nhan said the Party and State always pay attention to improving living conditions for policy beneficiaries. He expressed his wish that martyrs’ families will continue to uphold their revolutionary tradition and set outstanding examples for young people to follow.

A program to express gratitude to martyrs was held today in Hang Duong Cemetery on Con Dao Island, while candles were lit in Tuyen Quang province’s martyrs’ graveyard.

Thai Binh province completed the upgrading and construction of 2,700 houses for policy beneficiaries. Bui Cong Nhan, deputy Director of Thai Binh’s Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, says “in the near future, the province will speed up the settlement of pending issues relating to policies on revolutionary contributors and implement new regulations under the ordinance on revolutionary contributors. We will try by 2015 to help all revolutionary contributors and policy beneficiaries to escape poverty and enjoy a better life.

The central province of Thanh Hoa has organized many visits to present gifts to local policy beneficiaries. Duong Van Hue, deputy Director of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, comments “this year, we have presented more than 100,000 gift packages worth 940,000 USD in addition to building houses for war invalids and heroic Vietnamese mothers. We have also cooperated with the Ministry of Defense to provide jobs for the children of seriously wounded soldiers who are being treated at sanatoriums.

Nghe Anh province has distributed more than 470,000 USD in gifts to social beneficiaries and organized a ceremony in honor of the national tradition of remembering the source of the water we drink at the Viet – Lao Friendly Martyrs’ International cemetery.
