(VOVWORLD) -Belgian intelligence services are investigating an explosion caused by a projectile that fell on the Polish village of Przewodow, near the border with Ukraine on Tuesday, Belgium's Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Dedonder expressed his belief that the incident was the result of Ukrainian air defense systems. "Investigations are continuing, but at present there is no indication that it was a deliberate attack," the minister added.

Reuters cited a NATO source as saying that US President Joe Biden told G7 and NATO partners that a missile blast in eastern Poland was caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile.

There is no indication that a projectile which landed in a Polish village was a deliberate attack, NATO's chief Jens Stoltenberg stated on Wednesday, as ambassadors from the organization met in an emergency session on Wednesday in Brussels.

Polish President Andrzej Duda on Wednesday stated that the missile crash was most likely an "unfortunate accident" and not an "intentional attack."

The Russian Defense Ministry issued a notice saying that experts from the Russian Military-Industrial Complex had identified the debris seen in the pictures taken in Poland as parts of the S-300 air defense system of the Ukrainian Air Force.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said late Wednesday Kiev had not seen any proof that the missile was Ukrainian and asked that Ukraine become part of an investigation.
