The project is initiated by a Japanese partner, Nhat Viet Company revealed at a recent press conference in Hanoi.

Under the project, after the 14km river is cleaned up, rows of trees will be planted along its banks. 

Along the river, local residents and tourists will walk and see milestones of national history spanning 4,000 years. 

Historians said the river played a very important role in the spiritual life of Hanoians in the past as it was once considered a protector of ancient Thang Long-Hanoi.
