At the meeting, participants discussed the socio-economic situation of Can Tho and addressed the city’s recommendations in order to clear obstacles for local development.

Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh said Can Tho city needs to continue to be proactive, timely, flexible and effective as well as focus on solving difficulties for people and businesses to promote production, create jobs and livelihoods.

The Prime Minister asked Can Tho to concentrate on disbursing public investment capital, effectively implement socio-economic recovery and development programs and National Target Programs; stimulate investment and consumption demand, promote the movement of Vietnamese people to use Vietnamese goods; and effectively focus on three growth drivers: consumption, export, and investment. In addition, the city needs to improve the investment and business environment, he added.

Prime Minister Chinh suggested that the Ministry of Planning and Investment adopt specific instructions for the province to implement; the Ministry of Industry and Trade expand export markets to the Middle East and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and quickly sign a free trade agreement with Israel, especially in the export of Halal food.
