(VOVworld) – On Tuesday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with the staff of the Vietnamese embassy and representative offices in Russia. Mr. Phuc informed them of the results of the 12th National Party Congress, Vietnam’s socio-economic development plan, and the Party and State’s diplomatic policies for the next 5 years. The Prime Minister said Vietnam always attaches great importance to developing its traditional ties and strategic partnership with Russia. He urged the embassy staff to contribute to fostering this relation.

The same day, Prime Minister met with Speaker of the Federation Council (Upper House) of Russia’s Parliament Valentina Matviyenko. Mr. Phuc said Vietnam and Russia should step up their legislative ties through the exchange of information and experience in law-making and supervision activities. Ms. Valentina Matviyenko said that with the agreements reached, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit will deepen the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited Gazprom , one of the largest oil and gas companies in Russia. He emphasized that energy cooperation is one of the major pillars of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. Mr. Phuc added that the Vietnamese Government always creates the best possible conditions for Russian businesses, including Gazprom, to operate in Vietnam. Phuc said he hoped the group will increase its investments in oil and gas exploration and exploitation and crude oil supply while expanding its presence in petrochemistry and producing gas to power auto engines. He said he hopes the affiliation between PetroVietnam and Gazprom will thrive, contributing to socio-economic development in each nation as well as the time-honored friendship between the two countries.
