Mr. Son told the media that President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s trip delivered a strong message to the world, highlighting Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, multilateralization and diversification, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, and that Vietnam is a reliable friend, and an active and responsible member of the international community.

The trip reaffirmed the loyal solidarity, mutual support and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, said FM Son.

He noted that despite its insufficient domestic supply of COVID-19 vaccine for its entire population, Cuba pledged to provide Vietnam with 10 million doses of its Abdala vaccine, with 1 million doses delivered during President Phuc’s visit.

Vietnam has also presented Cuba 23,000 tons of rice, including 6,000 tons delivered during President Phuc’s visit, along with medical supplies, maize seeds, and computers, Minister Son added.

Vietnam’s active participation in UN meetings showed that Vietnam is a peace loving country with aspirations for development, contributing to global peace, security and development, especially COVID-19 prevention and control and post-pandemic recovery, according to FM Son.

The top diplomat said that during President Phuc’s visit, many partners pledged to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Vietnam, including the Republic of Korea with more than 1 million doses, and Hungary with 400,000 doses.

Many leading groups signed contracts and agreements worth billions of USD with Vietnamese counterparts, said Minister Son.
