While receiving Ambassador from the UK and Northern Ireland, Giles Lever, President Truong Tan Sang said Vietnam treasured its relations with the UK and asked the UK to push ahead the negotiations on a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EU. He expressed his hope that the Ambassador, with his experience and goodwill towards Vietnam, would generate new momentum for Vietnam-UK relations.

At a meeting with Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam, Catharina Trooster, President Sang said Vietnam would offer favorable conditions for Dutch businesses to invest in Vietnam. He expected the Netherlands to become a big investor in Vietnam. He wanted the two countries to expand cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchange to improve understanding.

Talking with Norwegian Ambassador Siren Gjerme Eriksen, President Truong Tan Sang thanked Norway for providing ODA to Vietnam. He hoped that Norway would soon finalize free trade agreement negotiations between Vietnam and north European countries. It could be a foundation to boost economic and trade relations between the two countries, he said.
