Later on, talks were held between the two leaders. President Quang reiterated Vietnam’s policy of developing ties with Cambodia under the motto: “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and lasting and comprehensive cooperation” for the benefits of the two peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in region and the world. Both sides agreed to strengthen security and defense cooperation in addition to political and economic cooperation. They pledged to work closely in sharing information, settling arising problems along the common border and maintaining joint sea patrols. The Vietnamese and Cambodian leaders also agreed to cooperate closely in the search for and repatriation of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers missing in action in Cambodia. Both sides will boost cultural and people-to-peopple exchanges and health care cooperation, contributing to safeguarding a border of peace, stability, friendship and cooperation. Vietnam and Cambodia are committed to speeding up communication, the education of the younger generations and continuing to nurture bilateral ties.

The President and his spouse laid wreaths at the Independence Monument, the statue of the late Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk and the monument dedicated to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives in the country.
