Assessing the visit’s implications, Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said the visit is an opportunity to reaffirm the strong bilateral relationship between Singapore and Vietnam, strengthen their cooperation, and discuss ways to promote bilateral relations during the post COVID-19 recovery period. Singapore wishes to maintain its partnership with Vietnam by expanding into emerging fields and cooperating in a new chapter of development, in which there are two prominent areas: digital economy and sustainable development, he said.
Associate Professor Vu Minh Khuong, an expert at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, said that the visit will be a very special and much-awaited event in Singapore. He suggested that the two sides create an exemplary relationship of strategic trust, economics and people-to-people relations to continue consolidating the good diplomatic relations over the years.
