President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sends letter to US President Joe Biden

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter on Sunday to US President Joe Biden to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation in coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the letter, the Vietnamese President thanked the US for its pledge of 4 billion USD for the COVAX Facility and informed the US President that Vietnam had received 2.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from this facility.

President Phuc praised the US’s pledge to contribute additional 80 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the international efforts against COVID-19 amid complications of the disease in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. He expressed his hope that the US will continue to help Vietnam and other countries in vaccine supplies and proposed the two sides strengthen cooperation in COVID-19 vaccine research, production and transfer technology.

Phuc said Vietnam always respects its comprehensive partnership with the US and believes that in the spirit of cooperation and friendship, the two sides will further promote bilateral ties in a practical manner for the interests of the two peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
