In his address, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted the important role of the farmers, agriculture and rural areas in national development saying they are the strong backbone of the Party and people.

The President asked the Vietnam Farmers’ Union to effectively mobilize and use all resources of the farmer class and economic sectors inside and outside the country to promote rapid, sustainable development of the agriculture sector, farmers, and rural areas.

He stressed the importance of achieving the goal of building a prosperous agriculture, rich farmers, civilized, and modern rural areas. He urged the Vietnam Farmers' Union to work out effective solutions to strengthen links between farmers and restructure agricultural production toward large-commodity production.
