Addressing the event, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the Lien Chieu port project will meet the transportation demand of 5 million tons of cargo per year and strengthen regional connectivity and socio-economic development.

Mr. Phuc said that, with its advantages of depth, large warehouses, proximity to international maritime routes, and abundant goods from the East-West economic corridor, Lien Chieu port has the potential to become a leading seaport in Southeast Asia.

“Lien Chieu port will be an innovative breakthrough for the transport and logistics industry,” said Mr. Phuc.

He added, “Da Nang’s tourism and service industries will benefit from the future port, forming an international trade network, expanding development areas for Da Nang and the entire central region, and ensuring national defense and security. This will improve the status of Da Nang Bay among Vietnam’s bays.”

President Phuc urged the municipal administration and investors to apply advanced technologies to seaport management and operations toward building a "green port" in line with the global trend, and asked Da Nang to take measures to attract goods to the port.
