At a ceremony in Hanoi on Tuesday to mark 35 years since UNESCO adopted a resolution to honour Uncle Ho, Mr. Minh called President Ho Chi Minh a genius leader, a hero of national liberation, a great teacher, an outstanding diplomat, and the inspiration for Vietnam’s victory in its struggle for national independence and prosperity.

People around the world considered President Ho a close and loyal friend, a symbol of the aspiration for peace and the struggle against oppression and inequity, and an emissary of peace, solidarity, friendship, and cooperation among nations, said the Deputy PM.

UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay said the great legacy of President Ho Chi Minh is his vision of education for all people, and in inheriting and developing this legacy, UNESCO is cooperating effectively with Vietnam to preserve and uphold its cultural identity.

A bilingual book on President Ho Chi Minh made its debut for the occasion. An international seminar on Ho Chi Minh’s legacy was held on the same day.
