(VOVWORLD) -President Tran Dai Quang has called on Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono to deepen the friendly relations between the two countries through high-level exchanges and economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

At a reception for Mr. Kono in Hanoi on Wednesday, President Quang suggested that Japan continue providing ODA for Vietnam and increase people-to-people exchanges. He applauded Japan for helping Vietnam in fire prevention, search and rescue. Mr. Quang praised activities to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, which he said contribute to mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Foreign Minister Kono pledged to exert greater effort to contribute to stronger ties between the two countries. He said Japan supports Vietnam’s sustainable development for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region.
