Pompeo called  for a significant reduction in violence and encouraged expedited discussions on a political roadmap and a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Afghanistan.  

Pompeo also vsited UAE, where he met with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi's crown prince. The two discussed on ways to strenghthen cooperation relation between the US and UAE.  
UAE and Quatar were the last legs of the US Secretary of State's Europe and Middle East trip that also took him to France, Turkey, Georgia, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.
