PM says Vietnam speeds up digital transformation efficiently

(VOVWORLD) - Digital transformation is happening quickly in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Monday at the third meeting of the National Committee on Digital Transformation to assess the pace in the first half of this year and outline tasks for the time ahead.

Mr. Chinh said digital transformation is Vietnam’s priority and specified tasks the National Committee on Digital Transformation must perform to develop a digital government, the digital economy, the digital society, and smart cities, and implement the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He described digital transformation as an important tool for the building of an independent and self-reliant economy and the extensive and effective integration into the world.
So far, 100% of the enterprises have used e-invoices, e-commerce revenue reached 11.27% of total retail sales, 66% of the people aged 15 and above had payment accounts, 70.91% of adults owned smartphones, and 71.75% of all the households used broadband cable internet, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

The digital transformation index rankings for ministries and provinces in 2021 were announced at the meeting.
