(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc leads a Vietnamese delegation to attend the 28^th and 29^th ASEAN Summits and related meetings in Vientiane, Laos, on September 6-8 at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.

Laos is the Chair of ASEAN this year. The summits are attended by leaders from 10 ASEAN countries and partners of ASEAN including China, Japan, South Korea, the US, Russia, India, Australia, and New Zealand, and the UN Secretary General.

Senior ASEAN officials (SOM) met on September 5 to prepare for the 28^th and 29^th ASEAN summits and related meetings, including preparing documents to be approved at the summits. Head of Vietnam’s SOM delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said the heads of SOM delegations would submit to the ASEAN-China summit a document relating to the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and seek the early signing of the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).
