At a meeting with Nicolas Warnery, French Ambassador to Vietnam, on Wednesday in Hanoi, Prime Minister Chinh thanked the French Government and people for providing Vietnam with COVID-19 vaccine and medical supplies. The Prime Minister asked France to continue providing aid and loans, transferring vaccines to Vietnam and cooperating in transferring technology to produce vaccines and drugs against COVID-19. He called on French businesses and organizations to help Vietnam improve the health system capacity and develop the pharmaceutical industry.

Prime Minister Chinh suggested that France continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese seafood and agricultural products to enter the French and European Union (EU) markets and facilitate Vietnamese community to do business, study and live in France.

Ambassador Warnery said many large French enterprises want to invest in projects in Vietnam, especially in aerospace, infrastructure, renewable energy, climate change response, and high technology. He promised to coordinate with French authorities to soon complete the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Trade and Investment Protection Agreement, seek any possibility of further donation of vaccines for Vietnam, and prompt the European Commission to soon remove the yellow card warning against Vietnamese seafood.

The Ambassador affirmed France’s stance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety, freedom of navigation and overflight, and settling disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law.
