Meeting US Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote cooperation, especially in digital transformation, green agriculture, diversification of the agricultural product supply chain market, and human resource training.

Vietnam is ready to open its market to some US agricultural products, PM Chinh said.

He expected that the US side will support Vietnam in planning raw material areas to meet US standards, minimize unnecessary technical barriers to Vietnamese agricultural products, so as to ease difficulties, create jobs and livelihoods for farmers, especially those in remote areas and areas heavily affected by war and Agent Orange/dioxin.

Secretary Vilsack expressed his impression of Vietnam's strong development, saying that the US wishes to strengthen trade and investment cooperation. He said he will work with relevant agencies to promote the cooperation areas the Prime Minister suggested, and agreed with the Prime Minister's call for supporting Vietnam to build an agricultural product irradiation center in the North.
