PM calls for establishment of Norway’s production center in Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - During his official visit to Norway at the invitation of Prime Minister Erna Solberg, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday met with leaders of Norwegian leading corporations including Kongsberg, DVl-GL, Pharmaq, Vard, Juton, and Scatcc Solar, which are operating in Vietnam.

During the meeting, Mr. Phuc stressed that Vietnam attached great importance to all economic sectors and foreign investment while doing its best to open up its investment environment. He attributed these factors to Vietnam’s high growth over the past years. He also expressed his belief that Norwegian businesses will expand their investment and operations in Vietnam, urging them to establish a Norwegian production center in Vietnam.  

Norwegian business leaders pledged their continued investment in Vietnam, especially in aquaculture, fishing industry, and development of marine renewable energy.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with King Harald V of Norway and Speaker of Norwegian Parliament Tone Wilhelmsen Troen.

During Mr. Phuc’s visit to Norway, both sides issued a joint statement, praising the development of bilateral friendship and diplomatic relations over the past 4 decades, especially the two countries’ multifaceted cooperation. The statement encouraged businesses of both countries to promote investment and business cooperation. It hails the constructive dialogue on human rights between Vietnam and Norway and supports efforts to promote peace, stability, cooperation, and friendship in Southeast Asia. The statement also reiterates the importance of ensuring freedom, rights, and obligations in accordance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea which is considered the legal framework of every activity at sea and ocean.
