PM Chinh was speaking at Tuesday’s reception for Ge Haijiao, Chairman of BOC’s Board of Directors, as part of his working trip to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions and bilateral engagements in China.
Mr. Chinh praised BOC’s more than 30 years of operations in Vietnam and its contributions to the country’s socio-economic development.
He informed the BOC leader that Vietnam is finalizing the legal framework for establishing an international financial center, with an emphasis on transparency, safety, and efficiency aligned with global standards and practices.
The PM asked BOC to share its expertise, connect potential investors, and contribute to the planned financial hub.
Chairman Ge affirmed BOC’s interest in deepening its footprint in Vietnam, offering inclusive financial services for major infrastructure projects, and enhancing cross-border monetary and financial cooperation.
He reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting the development of Vietnam’s international financial center.
BOC currently operates in 64 countries and territories. As of the end of 2023, it had over 12,000 branches and 300,000 employees worldwide.
