(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai hailed the importance of the construction of Phan Thiet airport in national socio-economic development, defense and security, and maritime economic development, saying the airport will contribute to realizing Vietnam’s Maritime Strategy. He was speaking at a ceremony on Sunday to start the construction of Phan Thiet airport, Vietnam’s first airport built under the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) mode in Binh Thuan Province.

Phan Thiet Airport will be built on an area of 543 ha and will be used for military and civilian purposes. The project is scheduled to complete in 2018 with a total cost of 260 million USD.
