President Phuc conveyed Christmas greetings of Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong and other Party and State leaders to Archbishop Vu Van Thien of the Archdiocese of Hanoi and other Catholic dignitaries and followers.

The President said the Vietnamese Party and State pursue a consistent policy of respecting and ensuring people’s right to freedom of religion and belief and creating favorable conditions for religious followers to live a peaceful secular life and strengthen national unity. He asked the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam to encourage Catholic followers to further contribute to the nation,

Visiting the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, President Phuc extended greetings to Priest Tran Xuan Manh and urged the Committee to strengthen communications and encourage Catholic followers to comply with the Party guidelines and State policies and strengthen emulation movements.

The same day, President of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Do Van Chien visited the Vinh Archdiocese in Nghe An province and Bishop of Vinh Diocese Nguyen Huu Long.
