Party leader meets with generations of National Assembly deputies

(VOVWORLD) -The National Assembly has, over the past 80 years, worked side by side with the nation, where major decisions based on the people’s will and aspirations have been democratically discussed, carefully approved, and resolutely implemented, Party General Secretary To Lam said.

The Party leader on Wednesday chaired a meeting with representatives of all generations of National Assembly deputies, ahead of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), and in anticipation of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s first general election for the National Assembly in 2026.

In his address to more than 2,200 delegates at the meeting, the General Secretary underlined the country's goals. These are to ensure sovereignty, territorial integrity, maintain peace, stability, and social order; develop the country quickly and sustainably; meet the people's increasing needs for material and spiritual life. The 14th National Party Congress, a major political event scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, will set forth important policies to steer Vietnam into an era of prosperity.

Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized the selection of personnel for the Congress, saying The Party pays special attention to the quality of the 14th Party Central Committee members. There must be an appropriate number and structure to meet the requirements of comprehensive leadership."

"Attention must be paid to increasing the number of Party Central Committee members in important positions and prioritized areas. Those selected must be truly exemplary, clean, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, dare to sacrifice personal interests for the common good. They must put the collective interest, the people's interest, and the national interest above all, be reputable in the Party, and be trusted by the people,” the Party leader said.

In his remarks, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat of all terms; and hoped that National Assembly deputies would always maintain close ties with the Party, the State, and the People.

On this occasion, Chairman Man presented the "For the Cause of the Vietnamese National Assembly" insignia to Party General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and other incumbent and former leaders of the Party, the State, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The National Assembly leaders also presented the "For the Cause of the Vietnamese National Assembly" insignia to deputies of all terms.
