Mr. Lam said practicing thrift and fighting wastefulness are intrinsically linked and are two pillars essential to achieving prosperity, whether at the level of family, community, or nation. They are necessary in the daily life of each individual and are the “cornerstone” of a civilized society and sustainable development, he noted.

The Party leader outlined several directives, including recognizing that practicing thrift and combating wastefulness helps the nation to weather all storms in a volatile world that directly and substantially affects socio-economic development and social welfare.

He urged vigorous implementation of fundamental solutions to create substantial changes in practicing thrift and combating wastefulness. These include a strong focus on institutional reform, streamlining administrative procedures, minimizing compliance costs, creating the most favorable conditions for citizens and businesses, and tightening fiscal discipline and financial and budget management.

Mr. Lam highlighted the importance of building a culture of thrift to make practicing thrift and fighting wastefulness "conscious".  

In conclusion, he said that, to guide the nation into a new era of development and success, the Party, people, and military must be united in a determined effort to practice thrift and eliminate wastefulness.
