Party chief joins Hanoi residents on Lunar New Year's Eve

(VOVWORLD) -General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong on Thursday night offered incense at the statue of King Ly Thai To to pay tribute to the King, who moved the capital from Ninh Binh province to Thang Long, now Hanoi, in the 11th century.

The Party chief also burnt incense at Ngoc Son Temple and walked around Hoan Kiem lake to share New Year joys with people in the capital city.

Earlier, Mr. Trong visited and extended Tet (Lunar New Year) greetings to Hanoi’s Party Committee, authorities and people. He praised the city’s achievements over the past year, and wished that Hanoi will reap even greater attainments, deserving a capital of multi-thousand-year civilization.
