In his closing speech, Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong said the Party Central Committee agreed on the need to focus on major issues during the 13th tenure including the Resolutions on Party building, maintaining Party’s revolutionary nature, strengthening the Party’s organization, consolidating personnel affairs, reforming the Party leadership.
He stressed the need to boost the fight against corruption and waste, renovate Vietnam’s growth model, restructure the economy, improve growth quality, productivity, and economic competitiveness, and further integrate into the global economy.
Regarding the introduction of candidates for leading positions of the State, he stressed that the Party Central Committee had discussed democratically, considered thoroughly, and reached high consensus.
"The Party Central Committee agreed on the need to fine-tune and re-arrange leadership positions at state agencies to effectively realize the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. The Party Central Committee selected nominees for the posts of State President, Prime Minister, and National Assembly Chair," said Mr. Trong.
He noted that the Party Politburo asked the Party Central Committee to approve a list of other nominees to be submitted in to the National Assembly for consideration, election, or approval in line with the Constitution and the law.'
