(VOVworld) – 700 overseas Vietnamese got together for a new year meeting in Ho Chi Minh city on Tuesday.

Chairman of Ho Chi Minh city’s People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan said, in the coming months, the city will provide overseas Vietnamese information about Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh city, resolve issues relating to residence and business cooperation, and mobilize resources from overseas Vietnamese for urban construction and development.
In 2013, total overseas remittance to Ho Chi Minh city was estimated at 4.8 billion USD, approximately 50 percent of the country’s total. Increasing numbers of scientists and academics have returned to Ho Chi Minh city to do research and teach.
