A conference to review 10 years of implementing Politburo Resolution 36 on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs reported that overseas remittances for household businesses reached around 2.5 million USD and for social and charity programs, the figure was around 3.5 million USD. The conference was held on Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh city by the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee. Luong Bach Van, Vice Chairwoman of the Committee, said: "We need to change our methods of calling on overseas Vietnamese to respond to the resolution. It is necessary to meet and help overseas Vietnamese stabilize their lives in Vietnam. More attention should be paid to young Vietnamese who were born and grew up in other countries, to encourage them to make contributions to the homeland".

There are now more than 3,000 repatriates and nearly 9,300 overseas Vietnamese workers and investors who have been provided with long-term residence cards in Ho Chi Minh city.
