(VOVWORLD) -The People's Committee of An Giang province on Friday announced a plan to prepare a dossier of the Oc Eo-Ba The archaeological site to be submitted to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site.

Nguyen Huu Gieng, Director of the Management Board of the relic site, said that in recent years Vietnamese archaeologists have contributed to clarifying the outstanding global values of the site.

Oc Eo-Ba The is located in Thoai Son district, An Giang province, 40km away from Long Xuyen city. This property has about 40 cultural relics of various types of architectural relics, religious architecture, burial relics, residence sites, among others which have been discovered, surveyed and excavated from the early 40s of the 20th century to the end of the 20th century so far.

An Giang currently has 89 ranked cultural relics and two special national relic sites, including the Oc Eo-Ba The archaeological site.
