The only nomination for, and therefore the winner of, the Grand Prize is kept secret. That prize is given to an individual who has devoted his or her life to Hanoi’s development and has a career that is strongly connected to the capital city.
The other ten nominations are in three categories: Work Prize, Idea Prize, and Job Prize. Those nominations came from dozens of projects concerned with Hanoi’s policies, art, architecture, and innovative spaces. Among them is a foreigner who has written songs about Hanoi for a decade and a Hanoian who finds Hanoi an endless inspiration for his art.
50 “Bui Xuan Phai: For Love of Hanoi” awards have been presented in the past 13 years to individuals who embody scientific and artistic values and have a great love for Hanoi.
