Mr. Phuc urged localities to focus on preserving local cultures and settling pending social issues in rural areas. By October this year, all communes in 8 provinces and cities across Vietnam had met the criteria of new-style rural areas, two years ahead of schedule.

At an event honoring role models in the new-style rural area building movement from 2010 to 2020 on Friday, Prime Minister Phuc launched the next phase of the campaign under which 75% of communes are expected to be recognized as new-style rural areas by 2025.

“The national target program has blown fresh wind into Vietnam’s rural areas. Infrastructure and the living standards of people in the countryside have improve significantly thanks to the joint efforts of the entire political system and people,” he said.
