The National Week for Clean Water and Sanitation, from April 29 to May 6, is an annual event to promote environmental protection and clean water preservation. Soc Trang province, where this year’s event was held, is among localities in the Mekong Delta heavily affected by drought, water shortage, salination, and climate change.
The Ministry urged for more awareness of the role clean water and sanitation play for people’s health, especially children, communication campaigns aimed at changing the community’s behaviors towards clean water, and repairs and maintenance of clean water and sanitation facilities.
The organizers presented water filtering machines and water containers to people in Soc Trang.
