(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam aims to have five educational institutions among the world’s top 500 universities for mathematics by 2030 and two institutions in the top 400 to realize the National Program for Mathematics Development for the 2021-2030 period.

The Program was recently approved by the Prime Minister to improve Vietnam’s status in mathematics. Under the Program, Vietnam will strive to double the number of papers it published in world-recognized magazines in the previous decade. By 2030, Vietnam wants to have 400 doctors of mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics. 80% of high school math teachers and university math lecturers will be trained to teach the reformed syllabus approved in 2018. Math content will be uploaded to the digital Vietnamese knowledge system, an ambitious Wikipedia-like portal tailored for Vietnamese.
