National Press Festival opens, celebrates professional, modern, humane journalism

(VOVWORLD) -The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) together with more than 100 media agencies from all over the country are showcasing their journalistic achievements at the National Press Festival, which opened on Wednesday morning in Hanoi Museum.

The event themed "Vietnamese journalism is united, professional, modern and humane" is organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Hanoi People's Committee. It marks 72 years of establishment of Vietnam Journalists Association. The Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam Television broadcast live the opening ceremony.

The three-day festival honors the great achievements of the Vietnamese press, promotes journalistic creativity, strengthens exchanges and meetings between journalists and the public, and encourages the press to perform well its functions and tasks to meet the increasing information needs of the public.

Head of the Party Central Committee’s  Communications and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia told opening ceremony: “Now more than ever journalists need to improve their professional skills and political will and be loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people. Journalists need to firmly demonstrate their political and revolutionary will and professionalism, while remaining steadfast in their revolutionary stance and the spirit of international integration. Journalists need to nurture work ethics and strictly comply with the 10 regulations on profession and ethics of Vietnamese journalists, as well as rules for journalists’ use of social networks in the current digital transformation trend.”

49 central press agencies and 57 local press units are participating in the festival with 106 exhibition booths.

VOV’s pavilion is providing open and friendly information and creating interaction with the audience to promote more widely the Vietnamese brand name of VOV.

Journalist Pham Manh Hung, Vice President of VOV and  Chairman of VOV’s Journalists Association, said: “VOV's pavilion airs the signature tune of the Voice of Vietnam since its inception "This is the voice of Vietnam" as our slogan and core value. We are introducing the public to VOV’s rich historical tradition and its aim to build a modern, multilingual, multi-media agency. VOV has broadcast the most foreign languages and the most ethnic minority languages among press agencies in Vietnam.”

During the National Press festival, there is an exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of “Le Paria” newspaper, a photo exhibition “Spring roads”, a forum on digital transformation and a seminar on humanity journalism.
