A number of deputies said the National Assembly should definitely say no to poor-quality draft laws. Nguyen Van Tuyet, a deputy for Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, said: “We should be more resolute in legislation. The heads of legislative agencies, who fail to fulfill their responsibilities, should be held responsible. Draft laws of poor quality should be discarded.”

Nguyen Van Tien, a deputy for Tien Giang province, proposed increasing the quality of oversight: “We should encourage lawmakers to go on field trips. Oversight committees should think of ways to improve the effectiveness of meetings with voters.”

Vice-chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu said the deputies’ opinions will be considered for inclusion in the report of the 13th National Assembly.
