(VOVWORLD) -The National Assembly on Thursday approved the Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2026, which sets the GDP growth rate of 10% or more and GDP per capita reaching 5,400-5,500 USD.

The plan was passed with 429 votes in favor of the total 433 votes, accounting for 90.5%. It prioritizes growth promotion on the basis of maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major balances of the economy; fine-tuning institutions, and reforming growth models based on science and technology and digital transformation.

Other priorities include developing high-quality human resource, ensuring social security, protecting the environment, strengthening national defense and security, and expanding international integration.

The National Assembly identified 15 specific targets, including processing and manufacturing industry making up for 25% of GDP, 4.5% consumer price index (CPI) average growth rate, 8.5% social labor productivity average growth rate, and poor households (according to the multidimensional poverty standard) down by 1-1.5 percentage points.

 Also on Thursday morning, the National Assembly discussed the Draft Law on Civil Servants and deputies agreed on the necessity of promulgating the law in the new context.
Deputy Dang Bich Ngoc of Phu Tho delegation suggested that the draft law have a provision assigning the Government to guide the work of job positions in public service units, ensuring that they are realistic, scientific, and in line with the requirements and tasks of agencies and units,  contributing to more transparency and fairness in personnel work.

The National Assembly also approved the Resolution on the state budget estimate for 2026.
